The Book Thief (two)

I have continued reading The Book Thief. If you haven't read my last blog, the book I am reading is about a little girl named Liesel. On her journey to her foster parents home, her younger brother died. Her foster parents, Rosa and Hans Hubermann, are surprised to find only one child in the car. They get over it and they all start to bond. Liesel is ten years old and just started going to school and learning to read. This is important because she starts to find and take books, and she can't read them at first. I think she steals the book to give her something to do and think about. It takes her mind off of her struggles and hardships. SHe has gone through a lot for a little girl. She gains a stronger relationship with Hans Hubermann. She starts calling him Papa, and he comes and comforts her when she has nightmares. He found the first book she stole and read it to her because she couldn't. The book was called "The Grave Diggers Handbook". One of the grave diggers at her brothers funeral dropped it and she took it. She didn't know what the book was about, the title, or the topic of the book until Hans helped her. I am still not too far into the book so I have not reached the very exciting parts yet. I am a slowish reader, and I do get bored with books fast and easily, but I have stuck with this one so I must like it. That is my post for The Book Thief.
